Skiing is trying hard

Skiing is

Shared Ski Adventures, (SSA) is an ADAPTIVE Learn to Ski Program that helps people with disabilities become independent skiers.  SSA is a recreational program of SportsNet that takes place at Swain Resort in Western New York. Shared Ski Adventures is the largest adaptive ski program in the greater Rochester area. Since 1980, over 1000 students have benefited from the dedication of volunteer instructors. All share in the cost.  Instructors help optimistic and adventurous participants who are cognitively disabled or mobility, hearing or vision impaired, learn to ski. We focus on capabilities not disabilities.  Both student and instructor benefit from the program by sharing in a safe activity that promotes physical, mental and emotional growth. Our teaching methods are as creative as the people we instruct and frequently require specialized ski equipment.  In 2003, Shared Ski Adventures became a recreational program of CP Rochester, a 60-year-old agency whose mission is to support adults and children with physical and developmental disabilities so they may determine their own pathways in life and to live as full members of their communities. In 2015 we became a program of SportsNet – For more information, contact us via email at info@sportsnet.org.
